Veer could be just another stock reseller. Two things suggest otherwise: one, their website and printed catalog show genuine design savvy; and two, they sell Alias fonts. The fine work of brits Gareth Hague and David James was previously available only from the cluttered aisles of Fontworks and T.26. Veer provides a more fitting showcase for Alias’ smart experimentalism. Among their newest fonts is Perla, a radiant bevy of ball terminals reminiscent of Lineto’s Albroni [now discontinued?].
With only three foundries on their product list (Adobe and Device are the other two), Veer might be fresh ground for type designers looking to market their wares with less static. Stake your claim, fontographers. The new frontier awaits.
Thank you for the wonderfully glowing plug, Mr Coles. As one of the designers responsible for slapping the various pieces of Veer together, I can say with authority that more chewy type goodness is on the way. I promise. We've had great response from customers who have never had the pleasure of being exposed to the Device or Alias collections. Our plan is to search out additional foundries and designers with this kind of æsthetic chutzpa.
Also meets generally-accepted accessibility standards. Yes, a site selling pictures and fonts works perfectly well with no images loaded whatsoever. We're down with this.
It ain't perfect, but it's ours. I just wish the whole shebang was a bit more standards jiggy. The ASP framework we had to use sort of mucked up the crisp and clean HTML that I wanted to use. At least it renders, right?
