NEWSFLASH!!! New Face at the FontDiner...

I was relayed the call this morning before work, so I hope I am recalling this information correctly...

At 12:50am on Wednesday, July 24th, the FontDiner added its newest employee to the payroll. Delivery started towards the conclusion of a TypeCon board meeting when the water broke, and 6 hours of labor later, the approximately 7 pound, 19 inch tall baby boy was born.

Could this be the birth of the next generation of Type Designers...? We will have to wait and see.

Congratulations to Stuart and Ann Sandler.

Congratulations Stu and Ann!

(I can vouch for that story about the start of delivery. A couple of us were standing around at the end of the meeting making small talk with the Sandlers about due dates and babies and stuff when they suddenly really had to run. Wow.)

Warm congrats to Stuart and Ann!

So, what's the little guy's name? (I hope not something typographic...)

Sorry about that, I had thought that I posted the name of their new baby boy in the main post. His name is Jackson Sandler.

"Jackson"? But your first name isn't Jack...

Well, anyhow-- congratulations!

Congratulations to Stuart and Ann! Better late than never, eh? See, Stuart, you could’ve made it to TypeCon after all. (Don’t tell Ann I said that ;-)

Congratulations Stuart!

I wish you all the best.

Now, how about something like Chank's Dental pack, but only we'll call it the Diaper Pack!

What do you think?

Congratulations Ann and Stuart!

Now I can light that cigar. Wait!

Oooo, what's that funny smell?

Ohhh, its bubble gum...

Congrats Stu and Ann!

"Baby Food Pack" could be a whole new diner themed set! Fonts called "Mashed peas", "Strained prunes" and "Creamed Spinach" are just waiting to be made...You can get a good nights sleep again in a couple years. The best reason for sleep deprivation ever (the baby, not late night font making)!

Well, shoot. I tried to post this morning and it didn't go through.

Anyway, I was also there for the Stuart and Ann mad dash out the door. If only all the Minneapolis convention planning committee meetings could be so productive,

Way to go Jackson! This fellow defied gravity, the clock and two very anxious parents to make his grand entrance. The guy has star quality!

How wonderful for the Sandlers! Best

wishes to all 3! Can't wait to see Jackson

next year at TypeCon 2003!

Sue Zafarana | Jul 25, 2002 12:25 PM

Yay! Congratulations, Ann and Stuart, on your best creative collaboration ever!

Perhaps Jackson will have his first typeface ready in time to exhibit in the TC03 TypeGallery next summer?

:)

Hi All,

We were delighted to return from the hospital and find all of your wonderful greetings of kind words of congratulations. Thank you sincerely!

Also, thanks for your many suggestions of upcoming Font Diner sets. And, you can bet there'll be a string of new releases inspired by Jackson - Does anybody know how to get a newborn to hold a pen?

It should also be noted his middle name is Thomas - like Edison :D

We were debating if he will be infamously referred to as "The Typecon Baby"

Anyhow, For those of you who'd like to check out our newest "type" face, sorry I couldn't resist, head to: his album and check it out!

Again, thank you all for your kind wishes and enjoy the pictures.

Stuart :D
