Sad day. I turned to typographer.com regularly. David's posts were helpful and interesting, his opinion and humor always welcome.

David - please let this be a well-deserved break, rather than an obituary. There's always a need for your timely and provocative coverage.

Perhaps he saw the demise of PricewaterhouseCoopers' consulting firm "Monday:" (whose name, marketing and colon he despised, if you’ll remember) and decided that his work was done.

On a happy note, good luck David. On a sad note, we'll miss you, your acerbic wit, and the site.

I regret that this is the only oppritunity I've taken to thank you for your site that I visited so often. I very much enjoyed your site David, and I wish you well in whatever comes NEXT. May a life like an animal be yours.

David is such a great guy. Without his site and Andy's, I never would have put this place together to begin with. Don't take too long a vacation!

The site will be back, and it should not be too long, but I needed to kill it for the following reasons:

1) The market is different. Typographi.ca didn't exist when I set up the site. Mind you, neither did Lines & Splines.

2) I think the site lost its way a little. Originally, the articles were infrequent, but indepth. The more indepth coverage basically ended when I started "blogging" - the balance tilted too heavily in favour of the latter I think. My own darn fault.

3) Part of the reason I didn't spend more time developing more substantial content was due to other projects, the most notable being the writing of my book. Now that its off at the printers, I suddenly have more time.

4) Lots of personal private stuff has been happening of late.

All of which means that now is the time to stop, take stock, think and start afresh. The site will be back, but I need to carefully look at what it was that made it moderately successfull, what it was that I enjoyed about running it, and how I can make it into a far better thing.

Forgive the abrupt ending, but it needed to be done! Incidentally, the photo was taken during TypeCon2002, from up the CN tower, and the page design was created while drunk, so no bitching :)

Peace, and send any constructive comments to me please!

David :)
