...and 6. Sabon NextGary Munch provides a good first look at Sabon Next. Announced this week at AtypI Roma, the 47-member family is a Jean-François Porchez OpenType reworking of Jan Tschichold’s garamondy design. This project joins a throng of recent Linotype revivals, including Frutiger Next, Linotype Syntax, and Univers 3.0.
Also, over at Porchez’s site, catch a peek of Sabon Next in letterpress and offset manifestations.
UPDATE, SEPT. 23 – Jean-François wrote in to clarify that the Linotype package is available in Postscript and TrueType. The OpenType version is his own private edition, not for sale.

Meaning: Porchez created an OpenType version of Sabon, solely for the printing of his Peignot keepsake book. Sorry for the cornfused wording.

There was a great Sabon-Next brochure in the ATypI goodie bag: the visual comparisons were very revealing, and the whole thing was beautifully done.
Congrats JF!
