Thirstype Now Sells Underware

In another bold and daring move by the Barrington, IL typographic brigade, Thirstype is now selling typefaces by Underware. How cool is that? Pretty damn cool. Dolly and Sauna are now at your fingertips and in US currency.

UPDATE — Little fact I didn't know: Myfonts.com also carries Underware fonts. If only there was a place where one could keep on top of typographic news like this... Thanks Joe!

BTW, the Underware guys have a wonderful tutorial ("Type Basics") on type design here.

That tutorial is indeed very valuable.
Just beware the chirographic traps!

Just beware the chirographic traps!

I thought you were the guy who likes traps. ')

:->

"Chirographic trap": A small and subtle modification to the outline of a letterform, occurring unintentionally and providing purely circumstancial compensation for optical aberration and ink bleed. ;-)

Does it matter if a price is in US currency? I'd always buy from the true source if possible, so that would be underware.nl and not thirstype..

but the more distributors the better of course for them ;)

Rolf,
I hear what you say. And I concur. I would also rather buy from the source.

We really respect and admire the Underware crew; they do great work, and we wanted to introduce our visitors to their work, and allow those visitors to try the Underware fonts using the Thirstyper - the original live type testing tool - then purchase them with immediate download.

(If one wishes to purchase fonts from Underware's native site, one would be required to have a Paypal account, as that is how they accept payment. Then one would have to wait for the fonts.)

Besides underware.thirstype.com, Underware distributes their fonts through MyFonts.com, who are the Wal-Mart of typography, and have a much larger turnover of fonts. And a much larger selection, in a much larger store.

We are, on the other hand, a type boutique, until recently only selling those fonts published by ourselves and designed by the members of the Thirstype collective. By opening up little mini-boutiques within our boutique, such as Lux Typographics and Underware, we are able to share the work we really admire with our visitors.

Respect and love. This is what we need more of, in the world of design and in the world at large.

Best,
c

Cheers to that :)

Yes, Rolf,
what Chester and Rick have done is actually offering an additional service. As long as the things we're going to share as Thirstype are of excellent quality as the work of Greg Lindy (Lux) and Underware, this will mutually strenghten both us as Thirstype family and the single realities of Greg and the Underware guys.
Besides, buying on a server (like Thirstype's or MyFonts) is really handy compared to having to wait for email shipping. PayPal is not difficult, but at Thirstype you have the additional cool of testing the faces with the Thirstyper (which remains one of my favorites, complementing the different approach of MyFonts engine, good as well).
