Typographica reader Kevin van der Leek writes to inform us that the long-awaited book on Bram de Does, Book Typographer & Type Designer, is finally shipping from Nijhof & Lee (scroll down a bit to see the listing). de Does is a prolific book designer (as well as typesetter and printer of many fine press editions) and creator of the Enschedé faces Lexicon and Trinité. The book itself is designed by Marie-Cécile Noordzij, a member of the Royal Academy in den Haag, whose body of work is worthy of a Typographica article in its own right.

I was there at the rpesentation last friday.
It is an interesting book for many reasons. First, the content gives you a well overview over de Does' life and achievements. The development of his typefaces is described with interesting details. Second , a complete listing and showing of de Does' typographic work. Third, the book as been very well printed, bounded and it has very nice and good paper. And last, but not least, the design. Made by C. Noordzij, as mentioned above, who is a renowed and highly professional bookdesigner. Th e work has designed very thouroughly and precise. Even de Does had to admit it was well doe. And he is very picky, when it comes to typography. (very picky!)
I just received the book I ordered at Typotheque, and I have to say that it is a truely beautiful piece, wonderfully designed, instructive and full of references. I haven't properly read the essays so i can't comment on them, but I look forward to it.
