Say Hello to Nick Shinn We're proud to welcome designer and writer Nick Shinn as our newest Typographica author. Nice to have a Canadian on board to justify our domain name. Nick's font design credits include FF Fontesque, FF Oneleigh , Worldwide, Preface and, most recently, the innovative Panoptica. Click on "Essays" at his site for a nice sampling of his writing. Nick also has a collection of wonderfully old-school photography at fStop .

It will be great to see Nick originating posts. Not only are his fonts interesting (noting that boredom is death), but he has an iconoclasm that's refreshing in its intelligence.

A hardy tip of the toque to Mr Shinn.

And what am I? Chopped poutine? Hmph.

Thanks Stephen, but I am merely following in the footsteps of Joe Clark.

Grant - My apologies. You are more a fine Canuck pâté.
Nick - I'm sorry, but Jolly Joe is inimitable. Oh, Canadian, I see. Okay, I am embarrassed now. Next thing I'll discover Joshua is from Alberta.

Well .....
Have you actually seen a copy of your birth certificate, Stephen?
Nick is a terrific addition to the team. Looking forward to reading more.

Congrats to the new contributor... but Who are the others members?
Jean François Porchez | Mar 24, 2004 02:09 PM
Hi Dr. Nick!
Hi everybody
Sorry, it kind of just made sense, you know? I mean, say Hi , to Nick ? C'mon, it was right there for the taking, right? Right? Oh, whatever.
Armin | Mar 24, 2004 02:45 PM
JFP - We'll have a list of contributors and their bios shortly.

It's funny, I didn't realize than Nick wasn't already on board. I just assumed that, like a lot of of us "inner-circle" types, he was just slacking off. Welcome aboard, Nick! and hello from south of the border (though I guess you're more like due east from where I sit).
Mark Simonson | Mar 24, 2004 06:44 PM
Really? Nick is Canadian. From the way he speaks, I could have sworn that he was from Brooklyn.
James Montalbano | Mar 24, 2004 06:49 PM
Thanks. Now that you refer to that, I remember to have received an invitation a while ago, before the launch of typographica. I never answered and don't know why.
Jean François Porchez | Mar 25, 2004 01:52 AM
When I got the invitation I declined, but only because I was already spending too much time on these things! That's even more true now... :-/

If I were Nick, I would say something like, All Typographica needs is another "font expert."
But, I'm not Nick, and I don't think anybody could rip his brand of wit and curmudgeonly bluntness.
Welcome to the crew Nick!
=)
