Happy Birthday Boss Today marks the birth of our founder Joshua Lurie-Terrell , AKA JLT , AKA Bacon , AKA Meatwad . He is pictured at left demonstrating his love for both Emigre and goofy grins. Joshua is probably celebrating quietly with family and friends at his home in Sacramento this evening, but come Saturday he will be in the Bay Area. So if you're around and would like to join me in buying him some drinks, drop me a mail. Everyone should meet the man in person and find out why he's the raddest type chump around. Oh, and bring all that California State Senate literature you've been collecting and he'll sign the hell out of it.

Now there's a sobriquet to raise one's glass to.
I'm toastin' ya, jlt.

Happy Birthday, Joshua!

Josh, love to buy you a scary margarita at La Piņata in Alameda... but you'll probably be on the other side of the Bay... hope to see you then regardless of which side you're on. Celebrate good times, COME ON!

Happy birthday, my doppelganger -- let me know where you guys are going to be. If there's something happening in the afternoon I think I'm good to go.

Funny. Just now I brought up Typographica, fixating as usual on the "recently commented" bar. And in my left parafovea, I momentarily glimpsed the Dalai Lama.
Happy Birthday, o wise one.

Hrant, that is a wonderful compliment! I can only aspire to be more like his Holiness.

Dalai Lama!? Mick Jagger, Sean Connery and Hugh Hefner all rolled into one is more like it. I've seen the man in action after hours, and boy does he party hard!

The smile, the dome, the yellow (close enough) shirt, the glasses, seen askew, for an instant... http://www.snowcrest.net/ksnow/IMAGES/Hisholjs.jpg

I just spread the belated love over at Typophile but I wanted to spread it here too. And get everything all sticky.
Happy birthday!

That Emigre t-shirt's color is something unwearable for me. I bought it fooled by the preview (it seemed orange) and never used it.
I would have never imagine Joshua like that, anyway. Happy birthday!

Color is like the tifosi: too fickle. ;-)
That, of course, is why type rules.
