FontLab Studio 5 for Mac Released The Mac version of Fontlab's flagship product has finally caught up with the Windows version. FontLab Studio 5 for Mac OS X was released today.
This is a major upgrade to the premiere font design tool. As is standard procedure for Fontlab, Studio 5 for Windows was released first, in September 2005, and the Mac hordes waited patiently (and some not so patiently) to achieve parity.
Key improvements over the previous version include:
- new improved proofing and printing
- improved Bézier drawing tools
- integrated autotracing (formerly only available in ScanFont, a separate product)
- improved font merging and blending
- better OpenType and Unicode support
- better autohinting
- improved Python scripting support with RoboFab
- redesigned preferences; save, open and exchange preference profiles and UI workspaces
Press release.

When will FontLab Studio be able to open .fog files? Is this feature planned for a future release or update, now that Fontographer is also a FontLab product?

I believe you need to use FogLamp for .fog to .vfb conversions.

Yeah, I know that you need to use FogLamp now… my question is whether FL Studio will build this feature into itself at a later date or not.
