Typefaces of 2007 index »

The days of the lettering artist are not gone and they have morphed into the type designer’s foray, Mark Simonson’s to be exact. Kinescope is an inspired take on what was another era’s bold brush script style. Mark took his initial inspiration of the Fleischer Brother’s Superman cartoon series and greatly added to it, giving us a rich, full-featured design more useful than most typefaces like it today. Thanks in part to Mark’s use of OpenType technology, and especially his use of stylistic sets, you can think of it as an old school body with a new school engine.
