The New, Frameless House

House Industries is also sporting an online revamp. New type showings bring the clean glow of their print catalog to the web. They’ve also plugged-in Letterror’s LetterSetter for custom font sampling. And this was news to me: “House Industries is currently shipping all font kits except the Scrawl and General Collections in OpenType format.”

Fresh Flow From Fountain
After more than a year – the final code has been typed in – the new Fountain site is finished. We introduce to you a new design, new typefaces and new designers. New typefaces include: Baskerville 1757, Montrachet, Monteverdi by Lars Bergquist. Grimoire and Sadness by Felix Braden. Eric Sans by Peter Bruhn and finally the dingbat Lucifer by Lotta Bruhn. In a few weeks you will also see the release of: Alita by Peter Hoffmann and Girl by Dirk Uhlenbrock.

It’s worth the look. Peter Bruhn is a good type designer, I think, and he’s quite nice too (unlike most type designers?).

Simonson Takes Home Typophile Tee Trophy

A winner was finally declared yesterday in the Typophile Tee Shirt Contest. Mark Simonson’s hand drawn script charmed the judges. I’m sad to see some of my favorite entries didn’t even make the runners-up list. I suppose guys like Hoefler and Highsmith aren’t keen on the obscure. Maybe they needed to add a couple wildcards like Cina or Kral to the judging mix.

Here are my losers: 1, 2, and 3.
