December 01, 2002 FontLab 4.5 for the Mac The long-awaited Mac version of FontLab 4.5 was released today. New features for Mac users include OS X support, OpenType generation and feature previewing, Fog-like kerning interface, Bezier pen tool, and an Ikarus-like sketch mode, support for Apple's .dfont system format, truly amazing blend and interpolate functions, and tons of other advancements. Registered Fontographer and FL 3.x users can upgrade for $200. I recommend you skim through the manual first, then run the demo version which is fully functional for three days... try making some OpenType fonts or building a quick MM font from two, four or eight of your own extremes. Many things you always wished you could do with Fog are now quick and simple. I understand there will also be some new FontLab tutorials at Linotype’s Typotechnica in Heidelberg in a few weeks.
