Type for Sale

Joshua Lurie-Terrell on February 5, 2004

One of my old teachers is selling most of his old type: Baskerville 6-14 in body sizes, 6-14 small caps, and caps 24-48, and two large cases of roman/italic 14 point Caslon for $1,500 all told. Includes two metal fronted cases and a case of spacing matter. Type is located in Sacramento, California; email me for an introduction.

    He only used red paper?

  3. Smartass says:

Whats black and white and red all over?

  4. Hrant says:

That riddle doesn’t work when you write it out.

  5. Another Smartass says:

Of course it does: a sun-burnt penguin.

  6. Hrant says:

Or a penguin used instead of tree pulp to print a book. Well, a short book.

  8. mjb says:

    caveat emptor on this.

if the type is Monotype the price is too high. even with two metal fronted cases of spacing material…

it it’s ATF cast, then you’re talking but only if it’s gently used, which it sounds like it might not be.

  9. Sean McBrinn says:

I am a retired Compositor. I would like to set up a small private
press. Where can I source: Selection of type fonts, stone surface, furniture, etc? Ideally in Ireland, UK and Europe
