Don’t miss it! Doyald is a very engaging and accessible person. And yeah, he’s talented and skilled too. Just the book is worth the admission price, so even if you’re deaf you should go.

What is his new book called?
The book is called The Art of the Letter, as seen in the linked-to post about his tour. It looks neat. Is he going to have copies of his two big books with him for sale at the lectures?
Also, Team Typographica, the dates for the San Francisco and Sacramento lectures are reversed in yr little calendar sidebar.

FYI, the “new book” isn’t like his first two, which are large, in-depth works. This one is more of a flashy show-and-tell, paid for by a paper company; it re-presents much of Doyald’s past material using very high-end production; so it includes a lot of material (all of it good, some great) from Doyald’s two books, and even a couple of never-before-published tidbits (if my memory serves). Think of it as an art museum curator living it up on Ibiza.

i met doyald a year ago. he is extremely nice and very approachable
I met Doyald a few weeks ago at the Schools of Thoughts 2 conference in Pasadena, CA. As someone recently said that I “might be the Doyald Young of [my] generation” I figured I’d better find out who he is and introduce myself. He was very nice, and we had a good laugh. He knows a lot, and would be well worth listening to.
I saw Doyald Young in San Francisco and it was amazing. I was astonished with his work, with the 27 different spot colors, foils stamping, blind embossing and letter pressing present in his book (which was given to us as a compliment of Smart Papers / AIGA SF)… He, again, is very accessible and passionate with what he does. He is a gentlemen and a god in typefaces. Don’t miss it.
