The calendar opens with Christian Schwartz’s submission for January — a handsome presentation of his FF Bau over a rich painted canvas of deep red. The text reads: “The four most beautiful words in German: As determined by a competition held by the German Language Council and the Goethe Institut, 2004″.
wow – beautiful. can’t wait for our new color laserprinter to arrive so i can print these. sure beats a christmas card!
Very Nice!
How do they expect us to make a calendar though? It’s full 11×17 instead of individual pages. And it’s protected pdf so I can’t import and do the imposition myself. How’s about a print version guys?
Hey Ryan, I understand your dillema. We designed it to render well when scaled down to 8½ × 11. I printed January on my letter-size Epson inkjet by simply using OS X Preview and clicking “Scale” when the app warned me it was too large for the page. It’s hanging on the wall right now, perfectly legible and beautiful.
Certainly we’d love to mail a printed edition of the calendar to every customer, but the costs would be too high for a little font retailer.
Don’t get me wrong, It’s looks great printed as is. I’d just like a ‘real’ calendar, you know, saddle stitch and all that. I’m happy to print and bind it myself.
Wow! Wonderful! I will print this and hang it in my room.
Yes.
What a great promotion and a pleasant surprise. This new calendar looks fantastic in my office – thanks so much, Tamye and Stephen and everyone else!
Ever since ITC halted production of U&LC, my favorite mail treats come from Veer and Fontshop (speaking of which, when will I see the next issue of FONT?).
Well, I don’t mean to be the perverted guy or be sued for sexual harrasment but, as lovely as it is, isn’t Mr. Kisman’s – October – a bit phalic? Does “Sex Sells” apply to type as well?
Thanks Stephen. I posted the link to this FontFont calendar along with a couple others on my blog too.
