The Friends of St Bride Printing Library are pleased to announce their third annual conference: BAD TYPE. It will take place on 18, 19, 20 October 2004 at the St Bride Institute, Bride Lane off Fleet Street in London.
Book your place at the conference.
Listen to talks that are often wild, sometimes wicked and always wayward, that span centuries and bridge continents, which juxtapose Cowboys with Indians, Arabs with Jews, murderers with felons, and that put politics next to religion and democracy next to Nazism. There are lectures that include type made from fire and letters made from snow, and talks on typographic failures, printed monstrosities and design insanities, plus a curious peep show from a typo-voyeur.
We’ll have six typo-exhibitions, stall holders with books, belts and bags, goody bags and a commemorative poster, and two evening receptions with food, wine, and good company.
The bad speakers for this year are:
Lynne Baggett, William Baggett, Nigel Bents, Sebastian Carter, Grant Caruthers, Nadine Chahine, Vincent Connare, John Downer, Alice Ford-Smith, Allan Fogg, Nick Foster, Emily Luce, Vici McDonald, Etienne Giradet, Shelley Gruendler, Lukas Hartmann, Warren Hutchinson, Justin Howes, Dennis Ichiyama, David Jury, Gerry Leonidas, Barry McKay, Ross Mills, Tom Phinney, Caryn Radlove, Jay Rutherford, Rathna Ramanathan, Peggy Smith, Adi Stern, Yasmin Tann, Jef Tombeur, Joyce Yee and Karel van der Waarde

How about an “early bird” price?
nick darlin’:
there is an early bird price – ďż˝130 from ďż˝165. remember that the conference is 3 days long and that the money goes towards subsidizing other friends’ events.
will we see you there?
