From Russia With Type

Written by Christian Palino on May 22, 2005

Five Russian type designers post drawings and routinge notes about type designs. Daily Type is Yury Ostromentsky, Dasha Yarzhambek, Dmitry Jakovlev, Yury Gordon, and Ilya Ruderman. Noteable for the shear frequency of constant updates if not for the sketches, annotation and ideas explored.

Christian Palino is a designer and educator living in San Francisco. He is currently a Product Design Manager at Facebook and teaches Interaction Design at CCA. He previously worked at OpenTable, IDEO and Adaptive Path.

Very nice lettering. The picture of the four K’s makes me want to keep my hands in my pockets next time I feel like designing some type.

Nice lettering, cool illustration. What a pleasure to browse.
I find that some of the pieces are not so different from some of Letterrors work, especially those with a combination of handwriting plus ornamentation.
The calligraphic drawings by Gordon are so beautiful, and so are Rudermans illustrations.
    Certainly a website to bookmark.
